Olive Growing

Prospects

Because of both health and flavour benefits, consumer demand for table olives and olive oil is increasing worldwide. The planting of olives has increased to such an extent over the past decade in South Africa that there will only be room for expansion in the industry if the local market is developed and expanded, while at the same time opportunities on the export markets are investigated and exploited. The specific requirements and standards of foreign markets therefore need to be determined beforehand.
