Judges Feedback: Nutty, balanced, complex, good intense oil, green and ripe aromas, green almond, grass, apple and almond.

Tasting Notes: Fruit of green olive, freshly cut grass, tomato leaf and artichoke, with a pleasant bitterness and peppery punch.
Pairing: Freshly made salads and pasta dishes.

SA Olive Gold Winning Oil:

Name: Mardouw Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Style:
 Medium
Cultivars: Frantoio, FS17, Mix Cultivars
Litres Produced: 11 550lt

Tasting Notes: Fruit of green and ripe olives, olive leaf, artichoke, pine seed and almond.
Pairing: Fresh salads, pasta, chicken and fish dishes.

Chris van Niekerk: “Small harvest, dry and hot weather has been the challenge to overcome, yet beautiful fruit with lots of flavours emerge. Harvest started two weeks earlier than normal, but very satisfied with end results in presenting the market with well balance EVOO.”
