About Morgenster Wine & Olive Estate:
In 1993 owner Giulio Bertrand went to Italy and with the help of the Director of the CNR Institute in Perugia imported 17 Italian olive varieties selected for the excellence of their olive oil. From those trees he established Morgenster’s 50 hectares of olive groves and sold selected varieties to other farms. Some 4.3mil of the 5 million trees planted in SA since 1994 originated from Morgenster.
Morgenster uses the world’s most up to date expertise and technology to care for its orchards and extract its olive oils. For over 10 years Morgenster extra virgin olive oil has been judged one of the best olive oils in the world by significant international competitions.
Oil Maker & 2018 Harvest:
The Olive Production Manager is Nico Loubser. The 2018 harvest featured lower yields of excellent quality.
Don Carlo produces an oil marked differently from the oil coming from traditional varieties. With vibrant tomato and tomato leaf aromas and flavours, this single varietal oil exhibits compelling character and invites experimentation with food pairings.
