Name of the oil: Friesland Farm EVOO (Multi-varietal blend)
Style: Medium

Cultivars used for this oil: Frantoio (early season), Leccino, Mission

Litres produced: 800 lt

Producer history: Friesland Farm, situated off Blaauwklippen Road, Stellenbosch, is a small boutique olive farm nestled below the beautiful fynbos-area of the Stellenbosch Mountains, owned and personally worked by the Vierhaus family. Our love and affinity for high quality extra virgin olive oil began when we planted our first olive trees in the spring of 2008, and we have since expanded our orchards to just under 1000 trees of various Tuscan cultivars. Subscribing to biodynamic farming principles, we are passionate about producing oil that is good and healthy for you and good for our beautiful surroundings, striving to grow our olives with minimal impact on the environment.

Short introduction to the oil maker & his/her comment on the 2020 harvest: Our oil is pressed in collaboration with Gert van Dyk at Tokara.

Tasting notes: A medium, well balanced, complex extra virgin olive oil with positive attributes of fruit of green and ripe olives, olive leaf, artichoke, almond and walnut, with a slight bitterness and peppery aftertaste.

Best paired with which food: The complex bouquet of Friesland Farm EVOO is delicious with grilled and fried fish and meat, drizzled over green salads, sautéed vegetables and pasta dishes, for dipping of fresh crusty breads, and also for baking and in hearty soups.

Where to buy: Available directly from the farm, or from various selected quality local retailers, delis and wine estates.
